What Is The Full Form of IBPS RRB? Which Exams Are Conducted By It?

The Institute of Banking Personnel Selection conducts IBPS RRB exams every year. These examinations are held for the candidates who aspire to join the Gramin Bank in India. 

IBPS RRB stands for Institute of Banking Personnel Selection Regional Rural Bank. One who can crack the IBPS RRB examinations is offered an expected salary that ranges from Rs. 23,000 to 44,000 for the Officer Grade posts. Whereas, for clerical posts, the in-hand salary is rewarded between Rs. 15,000 to 22,000.  

IBPS RRB Selection Procedure

IBPS RRB Officer Scale-I (Assistant Manager)

Once the IBPS RRB Officer Scale-I remains under the probation period for 2 years, they are promoted to the post of Assistant Manager. The salary of Scale I officers varies between Rs. 29,000 to 33,000.  

 IBPS RRB Officer Scale-II (Generalist and Specialist)

The in-hand salary of the Officer Scale-II is between Rs. 33,000 to 39,000. The officer gets promoted to higher levels after completing their probation period.  

 IBPS RRB Officer Scale III (Senior Manager)

The salary of Officer Scale III ranges between Rs. 38,000 to 44,000. Once the candidates crack the IBPS RRB exam, the Group A officer level exam, they get recruited for the public sector banks posts.

IBPS RRB Office Assistant- (Multipurpose)

The role of Office Assistants is to handle and manage responsibilities of office tasks such as printing passbooks, opening a new account, cash counter management, fund transfers, managing cash transactions, & payment withdrawals, etc. At the same time, their salary ranges between Rs. 15,000 to Rs. 22,000. 

To get selected as IBPS RRB Officer Scale I, the aspirants need to clear all the 3 stages; Prelims, Mains, and Interview. However, candidates are required to clear only 2 stages for getting recruited for Officer Scale II, and III; that is the Single Level Online Examination and the Interview round. Only the candidates applying for the posts of Office Assistant need not undergo the Interview stage, as they need to clear the 2 stages; prelims and mains. 

IBPS RRB Exam Pattern

Let’s dive in to know the IBPS RRB exam pattern for the posts of Officer Grade and Office Assistant below: 

1. Office Assistant

A. Prelims

 All the questions are multiple-choice questions, carrying 1 mark each. In addition, the 45 minutes exams include negative marking for every incorrect answer. 

B. Mains

The 2-hour test consists of multiple-choice questions, wherein negative marking will be conducted for every candidate who fails to provide the correct answer to a question.  

2. Officer Scale I 

A. Prelims

It is a 45 minutes exam consisting of all MCQ-based questions. Each question carries 1 mark. 

B. Mains

The 2-hour examination includes all objective questions that deduct 1/4 of the marks for each wrong answer.  

3. Officer Scale-II 

Single Level Online Examination

The 2-hour test includes objective questions that deduct 1/4 of the marks for every incorrect answer.

4. Officer Scale III

The Officer Scale III examination’s duration is 2 hours. The applicants need to ensure the answer is correct. Otherwise, negative marking will be conducted.
