Customers who enjoy watching movies on Dish will be happy to know that the disagreement between the company and HBO has come to an end. It took almost three years for the two parties to come to an agreement that will allow HBO to be added to Dish once again. Cinemax will also be added to the Dish lineup. The agreement between Dish and WarnerMedia will likely continue to move forward over the coming months in order to iron out any other issues that need to be resolved so that customers have the best service possible from the company. Due to the launch of HBO being added back to its lineup, Dish is offering a 10-day trial for customers who want to see if they would like to add the channel permanently to the services that they have.
Behind the Disagreement
When the contract between Dish Network and HBO ended in 2018, AT&T picked up HBO and WarnerMedia instead of the network staying with Dish. One of the reasons that AT&T acquired HBO was because the fees that AT&T wanted to charge at the time were not what Dish agreed with regarding charging customers for an additional channel. This was the second time that HBO had been dropped by Dish. Disputes between cable and satellite companies and the companies that provide the channels for the lineups are common, but this one lasted almost three years.
Providing Options
Dish TV wants to provide the best customer service possible for customers. It wants customers to be able to watch their favorite shows and movies as well as some of the latest movies that are out. With HBO and Cinemax back on the Dish lineup, customers have a wider range of shows and movies to watch instead of renting a movie from a store or buying a movie that they might not enjoy once they get it home.
Customers can enjoy HBO by subscribing to the additional channels for only about $12 a month. Customers would be able to watch ad-free. Cinemax is available for about $10 a month with no ads. This service is available for up to a year, but if customers want to continue with the subscription to the channels, they would have to renew. Details about the deal were released only a short time before Dish was scheduled to partake in its earning call for the year. A new brand could be released by Dish in 2022 along with a new 5G network that is supposed to launch by the end of 2021 in Las Vegas. Postpaid wireless services will likely be offered as well.
One of the things that customers have noticed about Dish is that the company plays hard when it comes to the services that it offers and its finances. It’s a company that tends to battle over carriage fees in order to provide certain channels as well. Some customers and analysts have questioned whether Dish made the decision to end the disagreement or whether HBO wanted to go back to Dish on its own. Customers have been able to watch shows and movies on the HBO Now streaming service, which means that they haven’t really missed out on much with the channel not being on Dish. Customers will see that HBO likely won’t be bundled with other channels that it has been with in the past, which means that there would be an additional fee to pay for those who want to keep it all the time.
